Halifax Health | Brooks Rehabilitation – Pediatric Rehabilitation is proud to provide pediatric therapeutic services for the children in our community that have neurological, physical, developmental and learning disabilities. Our team of pediatric rehabilitation experts work with each child to create an individualized care plan that takes into account their developmental and educational needs while also incorporating their home environment and family needs.
Pediatric Outpatient Services
Pediatric Physical Therapists are specially trained to help children from infancy to adolescence with motor development and function as well as improve strength and endurance to ease the challenges of daily activities. PTs work closely with the family as they both play a vital role in the child’s development.
Pediatric Occupational Therapists help children learn the skills they need to grow into functional adults. Through the different stages from infancy to adulthood the OT helps develop fine motor skills, sensory motor skills and visual motor skills with the ultimate goal of giving them the independence they for socialization and everyday living.
Pediatric speech therapy treats communication challenges, both expressive and receptive, that cause children to have difficulty with verbal communication. Speech therapy also treats oral motor concerns, such as chewing and swallowing, as well as articulation, auditory processing and social skills.
Infant Feeding Therapy
Feeding therapy can help infants with a wide array of feeding difficulties that include problems with sucking, chewing, and swallowing. Speech Pathologists that specialize in infant feeding can help improve weight gain and/or growth, improve swallowing function, and decrease mealtime stress.
