Community Programs

Halifax Health - Hospice offers special events throughout the year to support, educate and connect with our local community.

Hosting a third-party event is a wonderful way to show your support for Halifax Health - Hospice and the compassionate care we have provided our community for over 35 years. In addition to these events, we host education workshops, grief support groups and youth summer camps.

Third-Party Events

Thank you for your interest in hosting a third-party fundraising event. These events are intended to be created, managed and run by individuals, groups, businesses, service clubs, etc., for the benefit of Halifax Health - Hospice. These may include events such as auctions, dinner parties, walk/runs, school fundraisers, golf tournaments and barbecues. We would love to hear what you have in mind.

Third-party fundraising events not only benefit Halifax Health - Hospice directly but also help to increase awareness about they work that we do.

Hearts & Hooves

Halifax Health – Hospice BeginAgain Children’s Grief Center will present a Hearts & Hooves retreat on October 8, 2016 from 9 am - 3 pm at Artquest School of Art & Design, 571 Leeway Trail, Ormond Beach.  One of Halifax Health – Hospice’s signature programs, Hearts & Hooves is a camp for families, young children and teens involving expression through art and horses.

During the retreats, trained grief counselors will guide participants through artistic activities and allow them healing interaction with horses.  These activities give children and teens, who have experienced the death of a loved one, a safe and peaceful outlet for their grief expression.  The retreats are available for families with children and teens eight to 18 years of age.

To receive an application to register, or for additional information, call 386.258.5100. The deadline to apply is October 3, 2016.

Grief Centers

At Halifax Health - Hospice, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to grieve. Children often are thought to be too young to understand and cope with their grief. However, if given the proper support and understanding, children have a natural capacity to grieve and heal.

Pet Loss Support Group

The loss of a pet can be a devastating experience for an individual or family. For many, this is a loss not only of a pet, but of a best friend.Tender Paws is meant to provide emotional support for its members. It is not a therapy group.

The group offers:

  • A supportive environment where people can share their varied experience of loss and grieving
  • A place to remember and honor the life of their pet
  • An opportunity to connect with other bereaved pet owners and learn ways of coping with the loss

Who can participate?

Pet lovers grieving the death of a beloved animal companion are welcome to attend. There is no charge for the group, although donations are always welcome.
