Halifax Health-Auxiliary Awards Scholarship

DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – (June 26, 2019) –Vivian Swenson of Port Orange was recently awarded a $500 college scholarship by the Halifax Health-Auxiliary.  This is the first scholarship awarded by the auxiliary to a teen volunteer.

A 2019 graduate of Champion Preparatory Academy, Swenson has volunteered at Halifax Health Medical Center of Daytona Beach for over a year, donating more than 146 hours of service.  Swenson began as a patient transporter and now serves as a patient ambassador in the intensive surgical care unit.

This summer, Swenson enrolled at Daytona State College with plans of applying for admission into the Associate Degree Nursing program.  She would like to eventually obtain bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing with the goal of becoming a nurse practitioner.
