Joni Hunt

Director of Government and Community Affairs






Joni Hunt is the Director of Government and Community Affairs for Halifax Health.  She joined Halifax Health in 2018. 

Joni leads our strategic advocacy by engaging with elected officials at the federal, state, and local levels to support Halifax Health’s mission.  She has over a decade of experience in land use agreements, appropriations, regulation changes, and policy decisions.  She also leads the Halifax Health Associates, an invited group of engaged community leaders who share information about the clinically excellent and compassionate care offered at Halifax.   

She has served on the boards of over 20 community organizations including chairing the Leadership Daytona program of the Daytona Chamber for five years.  She is currently a member of the Checkered Flag Committee of the Daytona International Speedway and chairs the Memorials Committee, she is a board member for the Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Embassy of Hope, she serves on the Pearls of Hope Gala Committee for Food Brings Hope, and co-chairs the Healthcare Committee of the Civic League of the Halifax Area.

Joni holds a Designated Professional Lobbyist credential from the Florida Association of Professional Lobbyists.  A graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Joni earned her undergraduate degree and a Master of Aeronautical Science degree with a specialization in Human Factors in Aviation/Aerospace Systems.  She was named to “Who’s Who in Colleges and Universities” while a student.    

Joni was named an “Influential Woman in Business” by the Daytona Beach News Journal in 2015. She was the recipient of “A Tribute to an All-American Girl” by ArtHaus in 2016. 

Joni lives in Ormond Beach with her husband Pat Rice.
