Answer:
- In fiscal year 2007, (FY 07) Halifax Health provided abundant benefits to the community resulting in a net contribution of $40.9 million to ensure quality care for the residents of Volusia and Flagler counties.
- What does "net contribution" mean? It means that Halifax Health spent $91.6 million caring for patients in FY 07. Halifax Health collected $50.8 million of that in taxes. That left $40.9 million, 45% of the total cost, as a direct cost to Halifax Health.
- In fiscal year 2007, (FY 07) the health system spent more than $40 million serving uninsured patients alone; this figure does not include the more than $27 million spent in Medicaid and Medicare deficits.
- Serving as the area's only Level II Trauma Center, Halifax Health Medical Center spent more than $5 million caring for trauma patients.
- Halifax Health is devoted to ensuring the well-being of its community members. More than $2 million was contributed to preventative health services including local clinics and programs such as Healthy Start.
- In the past 80 years, Halifax Health has provided high-quality healthcare to you and your community, no strings attached; the next 80 will just get better.
