Comprehensive Stroke Center
Among 3,000 hospitals in Florida, there are 110 Primary Stroke Centers, but only 11 are designated Comprehensive Stroke Centers. Halifax Health is one of them. A Comprehensive Stroke Center enhances and expands the Primary Stroke Center Recommendations and has more stringent requirements. As a Comprehensive Stroke Center, Halifax Health Medical Center offers:
- Neurosurgeons and neurologists on call 24/7
- Area's only interventional neuroradiologists
- Advanced imaging capabilities including MRI and cerebral angiography
- Advanced surgical and endovascular techniques including clipping and coiling intracranial aneurysms and intra-arterial thrombolysis
- Dedicated stroke unit staffed with nurses who have advanced stroke education and expertise to care for stroke patients
- Dedicated neurological intensive care unit with the capacity to care for patients who have received interventional treatment following a stroke including clot-busting drugs and advanced surgical and endovascular techniques

Halifax Health is the only Comprehensive Stroke Center in Volusia/Flagler counties.
