Chest Pain Center |
Halifax Health has the only heart attack program in Florida to be recognized by The Joint Commission for commitment to excellence in heart attack care.

There are two common heart-related, and very serious, possible causes of Chest Pain:
Those who experience chest discomfort or pain should call 911 for an ambulance. Getting to an emergency department or chest pain center by car to be evaluated is a distant second-best option because time may be lost before treatment begins. The time lost trying to decide whether or not to go to the hospital is better spent rescuing a potentially injured heart muscle.
Each year more than 3,500 patients come to Halifax Health - Center for Chest Pain for extensive evaluation and determination of the best course of treatment. Proper management of chest pain demands that the staff have the experience, teamwork and resources to quickly identify patients at high risk of heart attack without doing unnecessary tests or procedures on those who are not having a heart attack.
Patients who are not having a heart attack or other life-threatening problem should have the cause of their chest pain quickly identified, treated if necessary, and leave with minimal delay. If a patient is experiencing a heart attack or similar episode he/she will immediately be seen by a cardiologist for further evaluation.
