Inpatient Services

Inpatient Oncology Unit

The Inpatient Oncology Unit at Halifax Medical Center is located on the 7th Floor. Nurses on our recently renovated floor are skilled in care of Oncology patients. A number of 7 East Registered Nurses hold national certifications, including OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certified by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation and RNC (Medical-Surgical Certified Nurse) through the American Nurses' Association. All Registered Nurses on this unit complete a course in care of persons with cancer and fulfill a certification process for administration of chemotherapy. But more than skill is required to care for persons with cancer; and nurses on 7 East also have a heart and passion for this area of nursing.

We provide care from a holistic standpoint, with an emphasis on good pain management, provision of quality care, and inclusion of the family in care. Our Oncology unit includes a sitting room for families and open visiting hours encourage family visits.
