Multiple Sclerosis Center
Established in 2000 the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Center at Halifax Health Medical Center provides specialized, coordinated care for people suffering from this disease. Using a multi-disciplinary team approach to treatment, the Center's goal is to maintain an individual's highest level of well-being by controlling symptoms and improving functioning through a variety of modalities.
Services
Halifax Health has one of only five National Multiple Sclerosis Society care centers in the Mid-Florida Chapter. The multidisciplinary team at the Center offers people with multiple sclerosis:
- Medical management and symptomatic treatment
- Rehabilitative services including physical, occupational and speech therapy
- Patient and family education
- Neuropsychological and psychosocial services
- Various resources of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society including peer support, durable medical equipment, educational materials and case management.
Specialized Staff
Our staff includes the Director of the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Center who is a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation, a registered nurse, consulting neurologists and neuropsychologist, and physical, occupational and speech therapists specializing in treatment of neurological disorders.
Multiple Sclerosis Clinic
The MS Clinic is held on the third Tuesday of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Appointments are required and may be made by calling the 386.947.4641.
The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Center at Halifax Health Medical Center is located on the third floor of the 201 Building on the main campus, just south of the hospital. Parking is available in patient and visitor lots located in front and just south of the 201 Building.
