Medical Intensive Care Unit
The medical intensive care unit at Halifax Health Medical Center is a 32-bed adult intensive care unit. This unit encompasses all patients with non-surgical or neurological critical illness. The medical intensive care unit has particular expertise in sepsis and septic shock, adult respiratory distress syndrome, respiratory failure, respiratory infections, gastrointestinal and hepatic emergencies, and diabetic emergencies.
The dedicated staff provides advanced critical care to 1-3 critically ill patients. Familiarity with high tech equipment and ability to respond rapidly to changing patient conditions are key skills for this highly trained staff.
