Interventional Pain Services
Halifax Health's Interventional Pain Services is the only hospital-based pain management program in the area.
Board certified physician William Ross Mayfield, MD, who has practiced pain management exclusively for the past 15 years, serves as the Director of Interventional Pain Services. The program is also staffed with three registered nurses who assist with procedures and have the ability to manage pumps and spinal cord stimulators.
Interventional Pain Services offers treatment for chronic pain from conditions such as post herpatic neuralgia, complex regional pain syndrome, reflex sympathetic dystrophy, cancer, and back pain caused by failed back syndrome, spinal stenosis and herniated discs.
The program focuses on the use of numerous procedures for pain management such as epidurals, Botox injections for muscle spasms/torticillis, nerve blocks, implantable pumps and spinal cord stimulators.
Physician referrals are not required.
