Kathleen McLaughlin, ARNP-C Kathleen is board certified as an adult nurse practitioner. She received her bachelor's degree in Health Education from the University of Florida and a master's degree in nursing for Vanderbilt University. Katie joined the clinical endocrinology team at Halifax Health in 2006.

Metabolic Activation Therapy

Patients at the Halifax Health - Center for Endocrinology may be candidates for Metabolic Activation Therapy (MAT). Provided by Advanced Diabetes Treatment Centers, MAT is indicated for individuals who, despite traditional treatment, continue to suffer from complications related to their diabetes.

MAT delivers insulin to the liver in a way that mimics the pulse-like method of a normal pancreas, stabilizing blood sugar levels and reducing the debilitating effects of severe diabetes including kidney failure, heart disease, neuropathy, gastroparesis, eye disease and slow-healing wounds. MAT also significantly increases patients' energy levels and even allows some patients to reduce their daily insulin use.
