East Coast Bariatrics, located at Halifax Health Medical Center - Daytona Beach, Florida campus is
a surgical weight loss program that focuses on providing a comprehensive support system for each patient. Recently awarded an American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, East Coast Bariatrics at Halifax Health has a long track record of favorable outcomes. Our surgical program is unique to our community. Our multidisciplinary team of professionals includes physicians, nurses, dietitians, exercise physiologists and psychiatrists. Each member of our bariatric surgery team is dedicated to helping patients improve their medical risk factors and reduce their weight through a comprehensive approach to weight management that includes:

• Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass
• Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding (Lapband®)
• Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG)

Our emphasis is to work together with each patient and emphasize that weight loss surgery itself is but one tool in an overall life changing decision towards an improvement in health, which targets the goal of wellness.

Weight Loss Surgery

Bariatric surgical procedures reduce the size of the stomach. The smaller stomach can only hold a tiny portion of food at a time. Weight loss surgery operations include Roux-en-Y, Gastric Bypass, Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding also known as Lap Band® surgery, and Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. These surgical treatments for obesity are only an option for people who are dangerously overweight, due to the potential for serious complications. Read more about weight management and obesity.
