Dr. Podhajsky attended Kansas State University as an undergraduate majoring in Nutritional Sciences. In her senior year, she won a cancer research award and studied the effects of short chain omega-3 fatty acids on Pulmonary Fibrosis induced by the anti-cancer drug Bleomycin. After graduating, she had her first trip abroad and lived in rural Northern Brazil for 3 months working at an orphanage and clinic which first solidified her desire to continue working with underserved populations. She then went to the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine and was Vice President of their International Outreach Student Interest group. She has been to Guatemala and Belize on medical missions and has worked at a large teaching hospital in Melbourne Australia for a month. Her special interests in medicine include International Medicine, Preventative Medicine, Patient Counseling, and increasing patient education especially in diabetic and obese patients. Outside of medicine she enjoys film-making and photography, singing and playing guitar, biking, tennis, and surfing when near the beach.
