Services and Programs
|
|
As a not-for-profit Hospice we believe in responding to our community’s needs by offering more than just the core services that all hospices
are required to provide. We offer additional services and programs that other local hospice providers don’t. These programs are not funded by
Medicare, Medicaid or commercial insurance, but are supported entirely by donations and fundraising activities. They include:
Traumatic Loss which benefits all community residents who have experienced a death due to homicide, accident, suicide, line-of-duty, war,
terrorism, natural disaster, or multiple deaths. This program meets the special needs of those who are faced with the sudden and unexpected
death of loved ones.
Children’s Grief Centers with locations in East and West Volusia County provides safe places where children ages 4-18 and their families can
express grief in a supportive and caring environment. Activities at the Centers are geared to each youngster’s individual needs.
Camp BeginAgain is a weekend retreat offered twice a year for children ages 6-18 who have recently experienced the death of a loved one.
It combines recreational and sharing activities while creating special bonds among campers who are experiencing similar emotions.
Family Caregiver Program provides professional caregivers for patients to allow the main caregiver time to rest, relax, and take care of
themselves so they are able to continue taking care of their loved one. Eight luncheons are held throughout Volusia and Flagler counties each year
that bring caregivers together to share their experiences and discuss caregiving issues.
Complementary Therapies is holistic and attempts to eliminate emotional and spiritual pain
while emphasizing the quality of life and dignity. It includes massage which reduces anxiety and pain and elicits a relaxation response.
Aromatherapy heals the body using blended oils for inhalation and bathing. Music therapy allows patients to find serenity by listening to
a collection of peaceful music. Healing touch promotes a sense of well-being that helps accelerate wound healing and reduces stress. Pet
therapy allows patients to be comforted with visits from their own pets or visits with specially trained therapy dogs.
