Jim Bazemore

As Halifax Health celebrates 80 years of history, Foundation member Jim Bazemore says the hospital has been "his hospital" for 70 of those years.  Jim, who has lived in Daytona Beach since 1929, is a member of the Halifax Health Foundation, and an original member of the Halifax Associates. "Halifax Health wants nothing more than to heal people in this community. And that's important to my family and me," he said.

Jim is extremely involved in the community but makes his work with Halifax Health a priority.  "I continue to support the Foundation, because it's helping future generations," he said.

Michelle Carter-Scott

"I am especially proud to be associated with a healthcare provider that makes it a priority to stay on top of the latest medical treatments, procedures and research," Michelle said.  Michelle supports the Halifax Health Foundation because she considers Halifax Health's commitment to the community outstanding. "Halifax Health is committed to providing the best in medical assistance to anyone who seeks it," she said. Michelle encourages others to support the Foundation. "Halifax Health is constantly making strides in compassionate medical care for the people it serves," she said.

Mary Greenless

Mary Greenless serves on the Halifax Health Foundation board because she believes "community involvement from the business sector is an essential component in making a difference in the technological growth of the healthcare system." Mary will never forget her visit to Speediatrics at Halifax Health. She remembers the compassion displayed by Halifax Health staff as the young patients and their families struggled in hospital rooms. Mary believes she has a responsibility as a business leader and human being to give back to her community. "Halifax Health serves this community by giving back to all of our citizens. I am truly amazed at how far Halifax Health has advanced the treatments of medical care and its use of state of the art equipment in surgical procedures," Mary said.

Bill Olivari

Bill Olivari believes the support of Halifax Health Foundation is universally essential - "Healthcare is needed by all people." By serving as president of the Foundation board of directors, Bill works to ensure that all Volusia County residents receive the best standard of care the community can provide, regardless of ability to pay. Bill is also the chairman of the Halifax Health Audit & Finance Committee which advises the board of commissioners. "This is my community. I live in it, I live for it, and I live off it; therefore, I am accountable to it."

Bert Reames

"I live, eat and breathe Halifax Health," Bert Reames said.  Bert certainly has a passion for Halifax Health and its people, which he says have saved his life more than once. As the first President of the Halifax Health Foundation, Bert was instrumental in its formation.  Bert's involvement began more than 30 years ago when he donated money to Halifax Health in memory of a friend's daughter and the donation was placed into a general fund. "There was no way for me to distinguish my gift. I knew there could be a better way to recognize people who want to give in someone else's honor." Bert remains active in the Halifax Health family and continues to give because he says it allows the staff to provide excellent care while using the best available tools. "Any donation, big or small, helps to improve services and save lives," he said.

Becky Sita

Becky Sita has been giving to the Foundation since 1993. "When my mother passed away, I donated to the Halifax Health Foundation as a memorial," Becky said. "Other co-workers also made donations in my mother's name. I knew that this would be a way to honor my mother."  When Becky's son started working at Halifax Health a few years ago, she encouraged him to donate too.  "Donations to the Foundation are important because all the money stays within the organization," she said. "I have seen enormous growth within the walls of this institution." Becky said Halifax Health has provided a wonderful work environment that has helped her grow and reach her potential.  "I consider the people that I have worked with family, because they have grown with me and been a part of my life for 28 years."
