The Sports Medicine Fellowship Program at Halifax Health is a one-year P-4 position open to graduates of accredited Family Practice Residency Programs achieving American Board of Family Medicine Certification or similar training credentials in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine or qualified PMR applicant. The Program has been ACGME accredited since 1997. Graduates are eligible for American Board of Family Practice Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine.

The Program Director for the Sports Medicine Fellowship is John Shelton, MD. Dr. Shelton and other Sports Medicine Fellowship faculty, Richard Branoff, MD and Brent Fulton, MD possess ABFM Certificates of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Sports Medicine. Brent Fulton, MD joined the faculty in 2010, following training at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. He is experienced in rehabilitation and complimentary medicine.

Clinics in Sports Medicine are held four days weekly and are supervised by these faculty members providing extensive outpatient experience in problems related to physical activity. The Fellow is the team physician to three local collegiate athletic departments and a local high school.
