Dr. Kathryn Malan graduated summa cum laude from the University of Missouri as an undergraduate, majoring in Biological Sciences. During this time, she volunteered at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital. She also worked on the Center for Disease Control's Behavior Risk Factor Surveillance System, the world's largest telephone survey, tracking health risks in the United States. After taking two years off, Dr. Malan returned to academics receiving her MD from the University of Missouri School of Medicine. As a medical student Dr. Malan followed an interest in rural medicine, participating in the Rural Track Program during her third year and completing several fourth year clerkships, one of which was at the Menomonee Tribe Clinic in Keshena, Wisconsin. While in training, Dr. Malan pursued volunteer activities geared toward youth. One of the most rewarding was her participation in the High School Mini Med program, this is designed to give students interested in medical school a preview. Dr. Malan also served as the Vice President of the American Medical Womens Association and received the Ruby T. McVean Family of Medicine Scholarship. Outside of medicine, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, friends and four dogs. She also stays active in the gym, enjoys a good suspense novel or movie and is obsessed with HGTV.
