Dr. Barnes attended the University of North Florida (UNF) as an undergraduate majoring in Spanish. She received the Merit Scholarship and the Excellence in Spanish Award while at UNF. Between college and medical school, Dana worked as a substitute teacher in the Duval County Public School system and taught a variety of classes including those with behaviorally challenged students. Dr. Barnes received her MD degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. While there, Dr. Barnes was elected president of the Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG). She actively volunteered during her medical school years at the San Juan Bosco Clinica student-run inner city free clinic in Miami. A native Floridian, it is no wonder that Dana's interests outside medicine include being a Certified Open Water Scuba Diver. She also enjoys travel, and spending time with her husband and daughter, Carly. | ||
