Halifax Health – Center for Urology adds state of the art lithotripter to its services
The new Wolf 3000 is the only one of its kind in Florida
DAYTONA BEACH, FL – (May 24, 2012) –. Halifax Health has expanded its urological services to provide the latest in technology for treating kidney stones. The new Wolf 3000 lithotriptor is a highly effective non-invasive alternative to the surgical removal of kidney and ureteral stones. With the addition of the new state-of-the-art Wolf 3000, this powerful lithotripsy system effectively treats kidney and ureteral stones faster, safer and with less pain to patients.
The Wolf unit uses Inline ultrasound in the therapy head, along with flouroscopy, for “dual imaging” and better visualization of stones. This combination results in better treatment outcomes than conventional lithotripsy imaging. When ultrasound is used instead of fluoroscopy, there is no radiation exposure for the patient.
Other features include an adaptable focal size that can be changed depending on the composition and density of the stone. This means only the stone will be directly hit by the ultrasound waves. This markedly decreases the chance of injury to surrounding tissues and organs. There are multiple power levels that provide powerful and precise pressure resulting in pulverization rather than fragmentation of the stone. These multiple power levels along with adjustable speeds decrease surgery time.
Halifax Health is pleased to now provide the most current and effective mobile lithotripsy service for those physicians who demand a reliable organization with technological advantages that will result in positive outcomes for their patients.
