Don Stoner, MD
Chief Medical Officer
Donald Stoner, MD, is the Chief Medical Officer at Halifax Health serving as the liaison with the physicians on the medical staff, a role he has performed since June 2006. Board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases, Dr. Stoner has been associated with Halifax Health since 1983.
His previous roles at Halifax Health have included Director of Cardiovascular services, Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Director of the Chest Pain Center, Director of Medical Intensive Care Unit, Director of the Heart Center, and Medical Director of the Health Fitness program.
He recently "retired" from active medical practice to start a new career in administrative healthcare and is committed to finding ways of improving the delivery of healthcare and preserving the value of the physician as a driving force for quality.
Prior to joining Halifax Health, Dr. Stoner served as chief of staff at three different area hospitals. In addition, he was a certified and sworn law enforcement officer, serving as a forensic specialist and an active duty officer.
He is a member of the Volusia County Medical Society and the American College of Physicians. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Stoner completed medical school and residency at the University of Miami Medical School. He completed a fellowship in cardiology at the University of South Florida College of Medicine.
