Halifax Health – Center for Oncology Receives Three-Year Accreditation

Halifax Health – Center for Oncology recently received three-year accreditation through the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO).

“We are proud of our staff for working so hard to earn this accreditation,” said Tom Garthwaite, Director of Oncology and Transplant Services. “In addition to the excellent services and patient care currently offered, Halifax Health will add two new linear accelerators that will provide the Volusia and Flagler area with the most advanced technology available for treating cancer.” Read more about one of these accelerators to the right.

To obtain the accreditation, the Radiation Oncology Program received an in-depth evaluation consisting of an on-site review of the facilities, equipment, policies, staff, physicists, physicians and clinical treatment methods. Accreditation by ACRO is a voluntary process that recognizes organizations meeting required professional standards. The standards define principals that result in the delivery of high-quality care in Radiation Oncology.
