New Wireless Network
Enhances Patient Care

The new France Tower boasts the latest in advanced technology — including a new wireless network that will help doctors and nurses increase their productivity and accuracy. This is just another example of Halifax Health’s overall effort to embrace technology that enhances patient care, ensures safety, and creates a more efficient workplace.

The new wireless network is provided by Meru Networks. It supports eHalifax, Halifax Health’s electronic health record initiative, by freeing clinicians to effectively manage clinical information in every patient setting, including the bedside. This flexibility creates a more positive experience for patients, families, doctors and nurses. The benefits of mobile computing include:

  • Bedside registration
  • Bedside medication verification
  • Mobile radiology
  • Mobile cardiology
  • Wireless voice communications
  • Remote video interpreting for hearing-impaired patients

Future initiatives include electronic patient signature, voice integration with nurse call systems, and enterprise asset management.

Stay Connected During Your Hospital Stay

Halifax Health offers Wi-Fi access for patients and visitors, in addition to clinicians and support staff. Bring your laptop and browse the Internet while staying in the hospital or visiting a loved one.
