What Is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?
Carpal tunnel syndrome is basically a pinched nerve at the wrist. The carpal tunnel is located at the base of your hand, and the median nerve passes through it. Repetitive hand and wrist movements can cause swelling of the nerves and other structures that surround the median nerve. This swelling may compress the nerve, causing numbness, tingling and pain.Carpal tunnel syndrome is one of the most common conditions that Dr. DeMercurio treats. He is a member of the American Medical Society, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
