Comprehensive Care for Mothers and Newborns at Halifax Health

Helping families bring babies into the world is one of the most enjoyable events at Halifax Health Medical Center. The newly expanded Center for Women & Infant Health offers comprehensive services from pregnancy to delivery. We care for families experiencing even the most complicated pregnancies in a private, comfortable environment. The center offers:

  • The area’s only Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • A prenatal diagnostic center with 4-D ultrasound equipment for high-definition imaging
  • All private rooms
  • A state-of-the-art infant security system Massage therapy for mom and dad
  • Family-centered care

Area’s Only NICU

The only NICU in the area is located onsite and is available for babies who are born prematurely, become ill after birth or have other special needs. Neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners and other highly qualified nurses and developmental specialists work collaboratively with parents to optimize the care these delicate patients receive.

The center plans to offer on-site massage therapy for a nominal fee, and childbirth preparation classes and complimentary lactation services are offered to expectant parents.

Our goal is to offer medical expertise and advanced technology in addition to comfort, privacy and personal attention.

By the Numbers:

2,500: More than 2,500 babies were born last year at Halifax Health Medical Center.

250: The area’s only Neonatal Intensive Care Unit admits approximately 250 at-risk infants annually.

4: Our advanced ultrasound equipment provides four-dimensional images.

2: Two entire floors at Halifax Health Medical Center are devoted to women and infants.
