Caring for Our Diverse Community: Halifax Health — Hospice of Volusia/Flagler Launches Multicultural Program

Halifax Health — Hospice of Volusia/Flagler is committed to providing comfort and dignity to patients with life-limiting illnesses. To better serve East Central Florida, the hospice plans to launch a Multicultural Outreach Program, which will promote awareness and education among the African-American and Hispanic communities about the value of end-of-life care and the variety of services that are available.

A Multicultural Advisory Council — consisting of employees, community leaders and physicians — will address issues people are facing and how to alleviate the strain that caring for a loved one may create. The program also will partner with Bethune Cookman University to help develop marketing initiatives that will boost awareness among minority populations.

The Multicultural Outreach Program is just another example of how Halifax Health — Hospice of Volusia/Flagler strives to anticipate the ever-changing needs of our community and to ensure that residents are aware of the breadth of healthcare services available to them.
