Halifax Health — Hospice of Volusia/Flagler Opening New Edgewater Center
The new Southeast Volusia Care Center will soon begin to serve Edgewater and the surrounding area.
“The need for a hospice care center in this community not only exists, but also will continue to grow with the area’s population,” said Fran Davis, President and CEO of Halifax Health — Hospice of Volusia/Flagler. “The residents of New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater and Oak Hill have been very supportive of our new hospice care center.”
Peaceful Beachside Cottage
Reminiscent of a peaceful beachside cottage, the 17,000-square-foot facility sits on 6 acres within a coastal community. Each of the 12 custom patio suites features a private bath, scenic patio, climate control, private phone, high-definition television and Internet access. The facility’s seaside theme and casual atmosphere are brought to life in the large family room with a fireplace and rocking chairs.Patients will receive 24-hour skilled nursing and social work care, as well as visits by a chaplain and physician. This unique team approach helps meet the goals of care identified by the patient and family. The focus is always on comfort, through rapid pain and symptom management, which ultimately improves a patient’s quality of life.

In addition, to better accommodate our patients’ needs, the Care Center will offer:- 24-hour family visitation
- Pet visitation
- Sitting rooms with a sleeper sofa for loved ones
- Complementary services such as massage therapy, clinical aromatherapy and healing touch
- Meals prepared according to patient preference
