Serve Your Community: Join the Halifax Health Auxiliary

Auxiliary member Marvin Thomas trains fellow volunteer Essie Smith at Halifax Health Medical Center’s new surgical waiting room.
From greeting guests to making mittens, members of the Halifax Health Auxiliary provide valuable support to people in need.

“It’s about providing a service to not only Halifax Health, but to our community,” said David Williamson, Halifax Health Auxiliary President. “It’s about being able to help others.”

Among other projects, Auxiliary members greet visitors, raise funds and make holiday stockings and other goodies for patients. Last year, members logged more than 85,000 hours and raised $195,000.

Volunteers gain from the experience, too. “It’s a great way to stay active and involved in the community,” Williamson said. “It also provides a wonderful social outlet.”
