New Helipad on Halifax Health’s North Tower Will Speed Care for Trauma Patients

The construction of Halifax Health’s new 10-story inpatient North Tower and Emergency Department at Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach continues to make significant progress.

While developments continue inside the structure, exterior construction has now begun. The current building phase includes work on exterior areas such as the roof and entrances.

Among many other impressive features, Halifax Health’s new helipad will be located on the roof of the North Tower. The surface measures more than 4,500 square feet and will be able to accommodate two helicopters at once.

To ensure the highest quality and most efficient care for trauma patients, two elevators designated strictly for traumas will travel from the Emergency Department all the way up to the helipad level of the roof.

Located northwest of the existing Emergency Department, the North Tower construction project will add 180 private rooms and approximately 500,000 square feet to the campus. The tower is scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2009.
