Halifax Health Hosts Live
Online Surgery

Dr. Kelly L. Molpus, MD
Halifax Health recently presented Florida’s first live online robot-assisted gynecologic oncology procedure. The public was invited to attend a viewing at Halifax Health Medical Center or to view the surgery at halifaxheath.org.

Kelly L. Molpus, MD, the area’s only gynecologic oncologist, performed the surgery. Christopher Stanley, MD, gynecologic surgeon, served as moderator.

“Because of the design of our specialty, we are able to provide continuity of care from surgery through remission,” said Dr. Molpus. “We are able to build strong bonds with our patients and their families, which makes a big difference.”

Gynecologic oncology is a medical specialization that deals with the study and treatment of malignancies in the female reproductive tract. Through years of intensive training, Dr. Molpus has learned to perform aggressive, targeted surgeries and to administer appropriate chemotherapy. For women needing this type of treatment, the addition of this rare specialty is good news.

The procedure is archived online, at halifaxheath.org. Look for Halifax Health to host more live online surgeries in the future.
