Specialized Treatment for
Wounds that Won’t Heal

Susan Rannie, RN, helps Dr. Eric Goldenberg prepare a patient for an Apligraf application to a leg wound at Halifax Health Wound Care.
If you have a wound that has not improved after a month, you may need to seek specialized treatment. For almost a decade, that treatment has been easy to access at Halifax Health Wound Care.

Nonhealing wounds may be caused by:

  • Poor circulation, which can lead
    to leg or foot ulcers
  • An incision from surgery
  • Sustained pressure
  • Diabetic nerve damage

To treat these wounds, Halifax Health Wound Care uses a structured, multidisciplinary approach. Our experienced wound care team includes both registered nurses and physicians.

“We use the most advanced techniques specific to chronic wound care,” said Eric Goldenberg, DPM, of Halifax Health Wound Care. “It is important for patients to find the appropriate source of treatment for certain types of wounds to ensure less pain, suffering and loss of function. Every day we give patients the quality of life they deserve.”

Progressive Therapy Prevents Amputation

Among the progressive therapies used at Halifax Health Wound Care is Apligraf® therapy. Apligraf consists of live, active layers of human skin cells. The noninvasive treatment requires no anesthesia and has been clinically proven to help heal certain types of wounds more quickly. It is the only FDA-approved therapy for venous leg ulcers and diabetic foot ulcers, which are prone to infection and can lead to amputation if untreated.
